I’m a single dad with three kids. That means we don’t run a very tight ship at Chez Lyon. I’ve never been the tidiest guy around. My oldest daughter, who’s (finally) away at school, has never even met the word “tidy.” (She says her suitemates are even messier than she is, but I have my doubts.) My 15-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son spend every other week with me, and while they do their best to clean up after themselves, they don’t always see the messes around them.
Naturally, being a 21st-century entrepreneur, I decided to outsource the problem. I had a housekeeping service I “inherited” from my ex-wife. But their quality had gotten poor, and even my oldest daughter complained they were dropping the ball. And when my girlfriend pointed out the cobwebs in the corners, I knew it was time to find someone else.
I could have just asked Mr. Google, of course. But I wanted someone good, and I wanted a recommendation from someone I knew. So I called a TaxCoach member here in Cincinnati who owns a cleaning service himself and targets cleaning service owners as clients. His own service doesn’t work in my part of town, but he made a couple of recommendations. I called one, gave them a try, and I’ve been delighted ever since.
They’re more than just good housekeepers. They’re decent marketers. Just yesterday, I got this email from them:
We hope that your year has gotten off to a fabulous start, we know ours has. A new year means new experiences, new surroundings, and new people. We would love to provide your new friends (and old friends) with fabulous cleaning services in this new year.
Refer a friend today and receive a free cleaning (up to $100) when they have reached their 6th cleaning!!!
Have a great year and thank you again for being such an important member of our cleaning family. <3
This may not sound overwhelming. “So they emailed him a referral request… not even a good one.” If that’s how you’re thinking, you’re missing the point.
If you’re like most TaxCoach members, you get most of your new clients through referrals. Referrals are quicker to sign up, more willing to pay premium fees, and even more willing to provide their own referrals.
But too many members take those referrals for granted, just assuming they’ll fall into our laps.
What do you think would happen if you created a system to generate more referrals?
What do you think would happen if you created a plan to focus on referrals, and worked that plan just as diligently as if you were launching a direct mail campaign or any other sort of marketing effort?
You’d get more referrals, that’s what would happen!
You’d have more new clients, more revenue, and more profit.
If my cleaning service can do it, so can you.
So what are you waiting for? Now is the time to start, before you (and your clients) get wrapped up in 2016! In the next few months, you’ll have a bona fide reason to talk to every one of your current clients. Why would you miss out on a chance like that to get your referral machine cranking?
Join us on Tuesday, January 19, at 2PM Eastern (11AM Pacific)for one of our most popular webinar presentations, “How to Double Your Referrals This Tax Season.” We’ll walk you step-by-step through a powerful system for generating those all-important new clients.
I’m not exaggerating when I say this information can take your biggest marketing problem (not enough clients) and turn it into a practice management problem (not enough time to service all those new clients).
